Bengaluru : BBMP civic workers set to fly to Singapore …..

Bengaluru :  A team of 42 people including 39 civic workers from the BBMP and three officers will be visiting Singapore from October 24 for four days to study the waste management techniques followed there.

Speaking about the same, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that this is a huge change from the routine where only high level officers and ministers paid visits to foreign countries.

The  mechanisation of waste collection and management system will bring in a healthy atmosphere reducing burden on their civic works.

Emphasising that even civic workers must live a life of dignity, he said that salary of the pourakarmikas has been increased.

“Singapore is a tourism driven economy. The people of the country have very high sense of cleanliness and hygiene,” he said adding that Indian food is easily available in Singapore as large number of Indians, specially Tamilians are living there.
