Bengaluru : State Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa has said that a total of 96 people have died in the state, while 3000 houses were lost due to torrential rains this year.
According to the minister southern part of the state had received 27pc excess rainfall this year between June 1 to September 30.
But, Malnad, Coastal, and Northern parts of Karnataka witness deficit rainfall. Statistics show that the rainfall dropped from 839 mm last year to 774 mm this year.
With regard to crop loss, he said that the union government had sanctioned Rs 1635 crore to the state last year, but of which Rs 23.51 crore was directly transferred into the accounts of farmers. Due to the technical reasons Rs 50 crore is pending with the government.
After calculating the total crop loss in the state, a proposal will be sent to the Union government of India for assistance.
